Introduction

Welcome to SAARC Agriculture Centre
ImageThe SAARC Agriculture Centre, which is located at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) complex,
Dhaka, Bangladesh, is the first regional centre of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).  SAARC consists of eight countries, namely, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The Centre was established on 8 December 1985 with the aim of accelerating the process of economic and social development among Member Countries through joint action in the agreed areas of cooperation. It started functioning from 1989.

In observance of the SAARC Charter Day (8 December 2008), SAARC Agriculture Centre is organizing an essay competition on
       

 "What SAARC can do for Agriculture and Rural Development in the  
    Region".


                            
Criteria
Only University level students can participate
Write up must be within five thousand words and language will be in English
Essay must be reached at the Centre on or before 1 December 2008
Winners will be awarded with attractive prizes.
